Ever since Lorelai was a little girl, her parents told her to keep her chin up, shoulders back, smile and keep her mouth shut unless asked a question. As a little girl, she had been wild and ruthless, only to learn the hard way that she had to follow the rules. With many beatings and a lot of work given to her, she learnt to stay silent. Years later, she learnt to appreciate this silence, she strived to be what her parents desired of her. She wanted to be in their good graces and she wanted to live a wonderful life, knowing that this meant being married off to some man that was probably older than her by many years. She wanted to live a life where she had no worries for money, and had her place in her own family.
Ever since her older sister Amelie had run away, these dreams seemed to be enforced, her parents did everything in order to make her what they wanted Amelie to be. She was already a proper lady, she knew how to behave and she knew what she wanted from life. But she missed her sister more than anything else, her heart was broken when the girl had run off and she desired to find her someday and to bring her home. She wanted to speak sense into her and help her find her way back to the path in life that was meant for her. Only when her parents presented her to the man that she was to marry as soon as she was eighteen, she got scared. Lorelai knew it was her duty to marry the man, to bring money to her family and to give him children someday, but he scared her. The way he comanded his men around, the way he looked at her as if she was fresh meat, thus she decided to run away.
Lorelai decided to follow her prior plans, to find her sister and bring her home. She desired to find a way to make life bearable knowing she would have to marry a man that seemed like the devil himself. But on her way of finding her sister, she learnt that she would have to let go of some of her ways. Lorelai did not want to get her hands dirty, she did not know how to defend herself, she was a young girl all alone on the streets of England and she was more scared than ever. Lorelai had always been delicate, she was sweet and calm and never asked too much. She was very beautiful, but did not know the dangers of her beauty when it came to men, most of all in taverns or out on the street at night. Many times she desired to simply run home, but she had to keep her promise to return with her sister, or her parents would most likely disown her for simply taking off in the middle of the night.
